“To honour God by making Christian literature and resources available and accessible to all nations, to help people come to faith and maturity in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
The mission contains four important movements: honouring God, making resources available, making them accessible, and helping people grow from conversion to Christian maturity. CLC therefore exists not merely to handle books, but to participate in the Great Commission through Christian literature and other faithful resources.
Matthew 28:19–20: Christ commissions His followers to make disciples of all nations and teach them to obey His commands.
Romans 10:14–15: People need messengers who will carry the good news so that they may hear and believe.
Colossians 1:28: The goal is to proclaim Christ so that believers may be presented mature in Him.
Pause and reflect: Which part of the mission statement most strongly connects with your present role in CLC?
Estimated study time: 12 minutes
Fellowship + Accountability
CLC seeks genuine fellowship among its members and with the wider family of faith. Biblical fellowship is more than friendliness. It is shared life, shared purpose, mutual care and responsible service. Accountability protects fellowship by requiring us to accept responsibility for our activities and disclose results honestly and transparently.
When individual CLC workers practise fellowship and accountability, they build trust, strengthen teamwork and reduce misunderstandings, duplication and neglect. Their willingness to cooperate, report faithfully, receive correction and support others contributes to a healthy ministry culture. In this way, personal fellowship and accountability become part of CLC’s corporate witness and enable the mission to make Christian literature and resources available and accessible with unity, integrity and effectiveness.
Acts 2:42: The early believers devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer.
Romans 14:12: Each person will give an account of himself or herself to God.
2 Corinthians 8:21: We should take care to do what is right before the Lord and before people.
CLC application: Share information responsibly, submit reports faithfully, use resources carefully, invite correction, honour team decisions and refuse secretive practices.
Pause and reflect: Is there an area of your work where greater accountability would strengthen fellowship and trust?
Estimated study time: 12 minutes
Holiness + Transparency
CLC missioners are called to cultivate a personal walk with God and a sincere desire to live holy lives before Him. Personal holiness shapes the character, decisions and conduct of each missioner, while transparency makes that integrity visible through honesty, accountability, clear communication and faithful adherence to sound policies and leadership practices.
When individual missioners pursue holiness and practise transparency, they strengthen trust within the ministry, protect the testimony of the ministry and contribute to a healthy ministry culture. In this way, personal integrity becomes part of CLC’s collective witness, enabling the mission to honour God and serve colleagues, partners and communities with credibility.
1 Peter 1:15–16: As God is holy, His people are called to be holy in all their conduct.
Psalm 139:23–24: We invite God to search our hearts and lead us in the everlasting way.
John 3:20–21: Those who live by truth come into the light so that their deeds may be seen clearly.
CLC application: Maintain personal integrity, declare conflicts of interest, follow clear procedures, keep accurate records, reject moral compromise and welcome appropriate scrutiny.
Pause and reflect: What practical habit would make your conduct or leadership more transparent?
Estimated study time: 12 minutes
Sacrifice + Innovation
CLC embraces a willingness to sacrifice for the Saviour and Lord, even when service requires missioners to move beyond familiar, comfortable or convenient ways of working. Personal sacrifice is expressed when an individual willingly gives time, energy, skills and resources to advance the mission, remains faithful during difficult seasons and places the needs of those being served above personal comfort.
Innovation complements sacrifice by helping each missioner find wiser and more effective ways to fulfil the mission. It is not change for its own sake, but the responsible adoption of new technologies, training, practices and strategies that improve access to Christian literature and resources.
When individual CLC missioners combine sacrifice with innovation, they help the ministry respond to changing needs, overcome limitations and serve more people without compromising biblical truth. Their willingness to learn, adapt, experiment responsibly and persevere strengthens CLC’s ministry capacity to fulfil its mission across nations with greater relevance, efficiency and impact.
Romans 12:1: Believers are called to offer themselves to God as living sacrifices.
Luke 9:23: Following Christ requires daily self-denial and a willingness to carry the cross.
Isaiah 43:19: God is able to do a new thing and make a way where none seemed possible.
CLC application: Learn new skills, improve systems, test responsible ideas, serve beyond convenience, adapt methods without compromising truth and use technology to widen access to Christian resources.
Pause and reflect: Which comfort zone may be limiting your ability to serve effectively?
Estimated study time: 12 minutes
Faith + Sustainability
CLC lives by faith and trust in the living God. This faith is not careless, passive or disorganised. It leads each missioner to pray, obey, plan wisely, steward resources responsibly and serve with confidence that God will sustain the work He has called into being.
Sustainability is therefore more than financial stability. It includes developing future leaders, documenting knowledge, mentoring others, strengthening systems and preparing the next generation to continue the mission with faithfulness and passion. The faith of CLC’s founders, Ken and Bessie Adams, and the faithful service of many missioners since 1941 created a pathway through which today’s missioner can now find a place to serve God within CLC.When individual missioners practise faith and sustainability, they contribute to the long-term continuity of the mission. Their faithful stewardship, willingness to train others, responsible planning and commitment to succession help ensure that CLC continues making Christian literature and resources available and accessible for generations to come.
Hebrews 11:6: Faith is essential in pleasing God and in seeking Him diligently.
Luke 14:28: Wise builders first sit down and estimate what is required to complete the work.
2 Timothy 2:2: Truth and responsibility should be entrusted to faithful people who will teach others also.
CLC application: Pray and plan, budget faithfully, pursue wise income streams, avoid waste, develop people, document knowledge and prepare the next generation of leaders.
Pause and reflect: How can your present role contribute to the long-term strength and continuity of CLC?
Estimated study time: 12 minutes
Integrated Reflection
The values are designed to work together. Fellowship without accountability can become sentimental. Holiness without transparency can become a private claim that no one can verify. Sacrifice without innovation can exhaust people without improving impact. Faith without sustainability can be used to excuse poor stewardship. Healthy mission holds the spiritual value and its practical expression together.
James 2:17: Faith that is not accompanied by action is dead.
