Chariots For Hope – Book Drive, Community Outreach

This is how our story began.

CLC Kenya had purchased essential media equipment from the USA. However, due to cargo restrictions, four small but crucial lithium batteries were held back and could not be shipped with the rest of the order. These batteries were a vital component of the equipment.

Jim Pitman from CLC USA connected us with Chariots for Hope (CFH), who graciously agreed to transport the batteries in their luggage later in the year. Once they arrived in Kenya, we were prepared to collect the batteries from any location at the convenience of the CFH team member delivering them.

To our surprise and delight, the team at Chariots for Hope went above and beyond. They not only transported the batteries but personally delivered them to our office, much like a DHL or UPS service! Our National Director, Dr. Muthoni Omukhango, graciously received the batteries from CFH’s Programs Coordinator, Stacy Mwaura. That morning, they exchanged pleasantries and agreed to reconnect later in the year.

What followed was a blossoming friendship. Stacy later attended our Mama Africa Book Box reading club at the National Library, and Dr. Muthoni had the honour of leading a training session for CFH’s academic caregivers.

After countless emails and discussions, this journey has now culminated in the exciting launch of the Mama Africa Book Box reading club at Chariots for Hope. Starting in October 2024, we will begin at Kitui Home, with plans underway to visit the other five homes. Our goal is to empower the children of CFH with the transformative gifts of reading, writing, and publishing.

What began as a simple gesture to carry batteries for one ministry has blossomed into a powerful partnership with the potential to impact children’s lives for God. Praise be to our Almighty God!
