#3: The Four Cousins Book Competition 2024

This month, we aim to help children explore their creativity and imagination by writing a book or contributing to a book. Encourage your writer child to write and your designer or illustrator child to illustrate, or even do both.

We will carefully consider every entry. While only one book cover and one story will be selected for this competition, your child’s work can be further developed and published as their own book.

After reading the story of the four cousins, what your child can do:

a. Complete the second part of the story ie the ending.

The best story ending will be published and your child will be Dr. Muthoni Omukhango’s co-author.

b. For designers/illustrators, decide on the title of the book and:

(i) Do a front cover digital design or illustrations. The best will be adopted to be the cover of the book.
(ii) Do the illustrations of the book, one per chapter. The best will be adopted.
(iii) Do bookmarks designs for the book. The best will be adopted.

Competition Guidelines

  1. What is the question to answer?

Read the story of the four cousins and complete the ending. It can be one or more chapters.

4. Benefits to you

a. This is a good opportunity to use your calling to bring hope to children during the uncertain times we are living in.

b. This is an opportunity to get additional exposure to a wider (and sometimes, a new) audience once the anthology is published. There will be a dedicated section to highlight contributing authors and their other published works.

c. The anthology will be published and distributed by CLC Kenya and its partners, which is an endorsement of the contributing authors.

d. There is no submission, publishing or any other fee to you. CLC Kenya and its partners will cater for the publishing and distribution costs including but not limited to: Compiling, Editng, Proofreading, Illustrations (where needed), ISBN, Cover Design, Layout, Copyrighting, Printing, Marketing and Distribution of the Anthology.

e. You will also get the opportunity to network with fellow shortlisted authors in collaborative writing – a skill you can adopt in your future writing and book projects.
