Testimonial: MABB Reading Club Mission at Chariots for Hope Children’s Home
I had the incredible opportunity to lead the Mama Africa Book Box (MABB) Reading Club at Chariots for Hope Children’s Home, and it was truly a rewarding experience. Our goal was to create an engaging environment where children could explore the joy of reading, and it was heartwarming to see their enthusiasm.
Through activities like group read-aloud sessions, fun balloon games, and skits using toys, we saw the children light up with excitement, making the connection between literature and play. It was wonderful to watch them gain confidence in reading aloud and discover that books are not just educational tools, but sources of fun and creativity. The energy of the children made the program such a joy to facilitate.
We also made meaningful connections, particularly with Teacher Njoro, the manager at Chariots for Hope, opening the door for ongoing partnerships, including an exciting writing class scheduled for 2025. I’m confident this program will inspire these young minds to write and publish their own stories.
This mission affirmed for me the power of associating books with joy, play, and imagination. It was a pleasure to see how literature can transform lives in such a tangible and joyful way. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with the children at Chariots for Hope and witnessing their growth as young readers and writers.
