Content is king because…
It is the foundation upon which engagement and consistency are built. High-quality and relevant content attracts and captivates the audience, keeping them interested and coming back for more. It sets the tone for an author’s brand’s message, establishes credibility, and showcases expertise or creativity. This is in consideration of the fact that an author is considered an authority or thought leader in the area of their writing.
Your content should be based on God’s calling in your life. What did God tell you to do? When creating content, it is important to align it with God’s calling on your life. Understanding what God has specifically told you to do can provide a clear direction and purpose for your content. By incorporating God’s guidance into your writing, you can ensure that your content is not only relevant and engaging but also serves a higher purpose in spreading His message and fulfilling His plan for your life.
Don’t go with what is trending, but with what your instructions are. By following God’s instructions rather than chasing trends, you can create content that truly reflects your unique calling and reaches the audience that God intends for you to reach. This approach will not only bring fulfilment to your own life but also have a greater impact on spreading His message and transforming lives. Trends pass away, but God’s Word shall remain throughout the ages. By staying faithful to God’s instructions, you can build a lasting legacy that goes beyond fleeting trends. Your content will have a timeless quality that continues to inspire and impact lives long after the latest fads have faded away. Remember, it is through obedience to God’s plan that true fulfilment and eternal significance are found.
Ultimately, content is what drives the success of any digital platform or marketing strategy.
How can you build good content? To build good content, it is important do the following:
(i) Understand your target audience and their needs
By understanding your target audience and their needs, you can create content that resonates with them and provides value. This not only helps in establishing a connection with your readers but also ensures that your content is relevant and addresses their pain points. Meeting the reader’s needs is crucial, as it allows you to build trust and loyalty, making them more likely to engage with your brand and share your content with others.
This is not rocket science, no! You have the Holy spirit who knows all your readers inside out. He is right there with you as your guide, teacher, helper and promises to reveal even things coming in the future. What a resource you have! Ask Him today on what He needs your readers to hear.
(ii) Conduct thorough research to gather insights and stay updated on industry trends
This will help tailor the content to meet the audience’s preferences and provide valuable information or solutions to their problems and pain points. The Bible says it’s the glory of kings (you and I) to search out the things God has concealed. By taking the time to research and understand your audience’s needs, you are demonstrating a commitment to providing them with valuable content that addresses their specific interests and challenges. It will take hard work and hours of prayer and research for you to remain relevant. This, God cannot do for you. He wants to co-work with you, so get to work!
(iii) Regularly analysing audience feedback and engagement metrics can provide valuable insights for continuously improving the content strategy
By monitoring audience feedback and engagement metrics, you can identify patterns and trends that will help you make informed decisions about the type of content that resonates most with your audience. This ongoing analysis will enable you to refine your content strategy and ensure that it remains relevant and valuable to your audience’s evolving needs.
I wrote my first book, Back On My Feet, for a whole eight years, from my short stint as a single mom to my firstborn daughter, Abiah @Abiah McKenna. By the time I was launching the book, I realised two things: One is that I had not suffered half the troubles and for as long as other women had. And two, the challenges facing single parents had evolved so much at the time of the book launch as opposed to the time of writing it. My book was good but not fully relevant to answering all the pain points of single parenthood.
So I put the book’s content out there, received feedback, and updated. After that, I launched the program (https://muthoniomukhango.kenyaclc.org/back-on-my-feet/) that ministered to hundreds of women and a few men on this topic. My point is that we have to keep adapting and upgrading. While my message and mandate remain to minister to single parents, the ‘how’ will keep changing. Adapting and upgrading are essential to effectively addressing the ever-evolving challenges faced by our readers. By actively seeking feedback and updating our approach, we can ensure that our programs and resources continue to meet the specific needs of the diverse groups we are called to serve. As society changes, it is crucial to remain flexible and open-minded in order to provide meaningful support and guidance to our readers as they navigate their unique journeys.
(iv) Incorporating storytelling techniques helps build good content for readers by creating a narrative that captivates their attention and resonates with their emotions
This can be done through the use of relatable characters, compelling plotlines, and relatable anecdotes, which allow us to foster a sense of connection and empathy with our audience as they can see themselves reflected in the stories we tell.
Most of the information you might share with your readers can be found on the internet if a reader searches keenly. It may not be in the exact way you have organised it, but it is available. Your level of vulnerability in telling your story is what differentiates you from the pack.
What is the power of a personal story? The power of a personal story lies in its ability to transcend mere information and create a deep emotional impact. Personal stories have the potential to inspire, educate, and provoke change by evoking empathy and connecting with the audience on a personal level. They allow authors to share their unique experiences, perspectives, and emotions, ultimately fostering a sense of understanding and unity among diverse groups of people.
(v) Using visuals: incorporating visual elements such as images, videos, or infographics can further enhance the storytelling experience and make the content more engaging and memorable for the audience. You can refer to previous articles on how to do this. Above all, ensure that you are providing valuable information and some form of entertainment to enhance the quality of your content and make it more engaging.
Next week we will look at how is Consistency the Queen.
Yours Sincerely,
Dr. Muthoni Omukhango,
