Impacting Young Hearts: MABB Reading Club Mission at Chariots for Hope by Patrick Omukhango

On 30th October 2024, we had the privilege of leading the Mama Africa Book Box (MABB) Reading Club at Chariots for Hope Children’s Home, and the experience was a profound testament to God’s provision and grace. From the outset, His favour was evident as we unexpectedly received a larger van than we had paid for, ensuring smooth transportation for the MABB kids.

This mission wasn’t just about bringing books to the children at Chariots for Hope; it was about teaching the MABB kids Kingdom values through service, interaction, and giving. Their participation—though a bit uncertain at times—allowed them to experience first-hand the joy of serving others. The fellowship between the MABB kids and the children at the home was truly heartwarming. After lunch, the genuine, informal interactions created an environment of connection and learning that went beyond the scheduled activities.

The children at Chariots for Hope were filled with joy and eagerly engaged in the activities. Their energy and enthusiasm were a clear indication of how much these programs mean to them, and it affirmed the need for more such initiatives. We were also grateful for the seamless coordination with parents, ensuring that all logistics ran smoothly.

There’s a clear need for more books and simpler reading materials to match the children’s comprehension levels. As we continue to trust God for provision, we look forward to supporting more missions like this, including bringing additional resources such as clothing, which the home expressed a need for.
