Adapted from Isaiah 41:1-20
By Dr. Muthoni Omukhango
Narrated by Johnson Mwakazi
Keep silence before me, Oh Africa; and let the African Christian Authors renew their strength: Let them come near together for encouragement.
Who raised up the renown Christian Author from the west, and called him to great influence? Who gave him readers before him, and made him have great impact globally? I gave him as the dust to a soldier’s sword, and as driven stubble to a warrior’s bow. He pursued the readers, and had great relevance; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.
Who has done it, calling the Christian Authors from the beginning? I, the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am He.
The African Christian Authors saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came. They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, “Be of good courage.”
So the Christian Living Category Author encouraged the Marriage Category Author, and he that writes for Leadership Category him that writes Poetry, saying, “Africa is ready for the readership,” and they secured it with more books published and sold.
For you, African Christian Authors, are my servants whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham, my friend.
You whom I have taken from the ends of Africa! I have called you from the chief men and women thereof, and said unto you, “You are my servants; I have chosen you, and not cast you away.”
Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
Behold, all the challenges that are incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and the low readers’ uptake that strive with you shall perish.
You shall seek them, and shall not find them, even the low sales contending with you: the low impact at war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
For I, the Lord your God will hold your right hand, saying unto you, Fear not; I will help you. Fear not, you African Christian Author, and you men and women of Africa; I will help you, says the Lord, and your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
Behold, I will make you a new and great movement having teeth: You shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall reduce the hills as chaff. You shall fan all the challenges you are experiencing today and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.
When you, as unknown Authors and the upcoming ones seek wider readership and there is none, and your hearts fail with discouragement, I, the Lord will hear you. I, the God of Israel will not forsake you.
I will open rivers in desolate places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
I will plant in Africa, the love for readership of Christian content authored by Africans. In the world, globally, platforms that amplify your voices, initiatives that enable you reach a wide audience. I will set in the unlikely places support and recognition from the book industry and its stakeholders. To ensure your message is widely distributed and promoted. I, the Lord your God, will do this.
That you, the African Christian Authors may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.
