How to Elavate Books Published in Africa- Gathuku Kibunga

The aim of this year’s gala theme-Unity of Purpose-is to encourage authors to open markets for each other in order to increase their collective reach. By collaborating and supporting one another, authors can expand their audience and create new opportunities for both indicidual and collective success.

How can authors collaborate and support each other? By promoting each other’s work through social media, guest blogging, or participating in joint book events. They can also share resources and knowledge, such as by recommending editors, publishers, and bookselling platforms, and provide feedback and constructive criticism on each other’s writing. By forming a supportive community, authors can exchange ideas, inspire one another, and collectively elevate the quality of their work in the different ACABA countries.

Authors can also collaborate on projects, such as anthologies or co-writing ventures, to expand their reach and attract a wider audience. This collaborative approach not only fosters creativity but also opens up opportunities for cross-promotion and cross-selling of each other’s books. Ultimately, by working together, authors can strengthen their individual careers and contribute to the growth of the overall authorship landscape on the continent.
