Pros of offset Printing
At CLC Kenya, we offer offset printing services through referrals that deliver quality and efficiency for authors who need large print runs. Offset printing uses aluminium plates to transfer images onto rubber blankets, which then transfer the ink onto paper. This indirect process—known as “offset”—ensures high precision, vibrant colours, and professional-grade printing.
Why Choose Offset Printing?
Offset printing is the preferred option for authors and publishers when larger quantities of books or materials are required. Its efficiency and versatility make it ideal for producing high-quality publications at scale.
Advantages of Offset Printing for Authors
1. Cost-Effective for Large Quantities
Offset printing offers significant cost savings for large print runs. The more copies you print, the lower the cost per unit, making it ideal for mass production.
2. Superior Economies of Scale
Enjoy better pricing as you increase the number of copies, ensuring your budget stretches further without compromising on quality.
3. Diverse Paper and Finish Options
Choose from a wide variety of paper types, textures, and finishes to give your book a unique and professional appearance.
4. Specialised Inks for Customisation
Enhance your book’s design with special inks, including metallic and Pantone colours, for stunning custom effects that stand out.
5. Exceptional Print Quality
Offset printing provides the highest level of detail, sharpness, and colour accuracy, ensuring your book looks polished and professional.
When to Choose Offset Printing
Offset printing is best suited for:
- Large-scale book production.
- Projects requiring detailed images and vivid colours.
- Publications with specific paper or finish requirements.
Whether you’re publishing a novel, educational materials, or a coffee table book, offset printing guarantees premium results that leave a lasting impression.

Binding Options
Perfect Binding – The pages and cover are glued together at the spine with a strong yet flexible hot melt glue with so thread sewing.
Saddle Stitch Binding – Folded sheets are gathered together and folded at the middle and then stapled through the fold line with wire staples.
Wire-0-Wire (wow) Binding – Wire-o-Wire uses a looped metal wire. Bound books are used for formal, organized, and professional presentations of information. Pages can be turned 360 degrees around on themselves without damaging the spine. This binding is great for fine art photography, calendars, business reports, documents, cookbooks, journals and directories.
Spiral Binding – This binding is used for manuals, workbooks, journals, guides, handbooks, and reports that need to be used as daily reference. The plastic coil is durable and allows for the pages to be turned 360 degrees around on themselves without damaging the edges of the paper or strength of the binding. This makes it easy to read or write in the book with just one facing page showing, which conserves space.
Tips to Save Money, Time, and Secure Your Files for Printing
1. Optimise Your Print Quantity
- Avoid Large Runs: With digital printing, there’s no need for bulk orders. Print only the number of copies you need at any given time.
- Revise Before Reprinting: Take advantage of digital printing flexibility to update your files with each print run.
2. Design with Precision
- Accurate Dimensions: Ensure your book is designed to the exact size you intend to print. Our printers work on a 100% scale for precision.
- Consider Colour Usage: Use colour sparingly, as it incurs additional charges. Opt for black-and-white for cost-effective printing.
3. Choose Efficient Book Sizes
- A5 for Print-On-Demand: This size is the most economical for POD as it eliminates paper wastage. Smaller sizes, like A6 or B6, cost the same as A5 due to similar paper usage.
- A4 for Manuals and Workbooks: For larger formats, A4 is the most cost-effective, avoiding paper wastage compared to smaller B5 sizes.
4. Prepare Print-Ready Files Correctly
- File Format: Submit your files as PDFs to ensure compatibility and quality.
- Separate Files: Send two distinct files—one for the inside text and another for the cover spread.
- The cover spread should include:
- Back Cover: Positioned on the left.
- Spine: In the centre.
- Front Cover: Positioned on the right.
- The cover spread should include:
5. Ensure File Security and Confidentiality
- Send via Email: Use email to submit files to maintain safety, security, and confidentiality.

Editing & Proofreading (from) Kes 16,000
When it comes to books, an editor is seen as a gatekeeper between the author and the audience. An editor has to take a dual sided point of view in order to keep both parties happy. Authors know their stories inside and out, and have had a strong personal relationship with their manuscript for months or sometimes years.
Without an editor, you won’t necessarily see those things are there, or you won’t think they need fixing. The editor is there to bring out the best in your work. Writers can’t help but fall in love with their own writing. … An editor will point out areas of text that could be rewritten to improve flow and cohesion.
Cover & Layout Design (from) Kes 11,000
Professional and catchy book cover and layout design instantly grabs the attention of your target audience and makes them take a second look. A well-designed book cover and layout tells the readers that the author is serious about the work and is a thorough professional.
ISBN Acquisition Kes 4,000
ISBN helps your readers identify and order the exact book they want to purchase.
Libraries, bookstores, online retailers, distributors, and wholesalers depend on this unique identifier to track purchases and sales, and it will be necessary to apply for an ISBN if you intend to sell to them.
Copyright Facilitation Kes 5,000
Copyright law has a dual role. It provides exclusive rights to authors in order to protect their work for a limited period of time but it was also established to promote creativity and learning.
It makes easier for authors to make money selling their books, by preventing bookstores and other sellers from buying one copy of a book, making copies of the book, and then selling the copies to their customers.
Writing Classes (from) Kes 15,000
A writing mentorship class helps a writer by giving honest feedback. This constructive critique can improve your writing process and teach you new ways to approach your stories.
