Fab Week Ever! by Audrey Spaulding

Adia and Daddy were going to the grocery store like any other Sunday afternoon and Daddy was going into the treat section. Adia got confused. Usually, they would skip that section. Daddy put bagels, mini cakes, soda, and pizza.

“Why are we buying all of Gavi’s, Sunny’s and my  favorite things?” She asked Daddy.

“Mama’s and my anniversary is coming up.  We will be going out of country for a week.” Daddy replied.

Adia was surprised and exited at the same time. All the wonderful things she could buy at the store… She could buy them at that second! Adia made a mental list of things her siblings and her wanted. When they were done shopping, it was already 8:30pm!

Adia got into the shower, put on pajamas and went to bed. The next day, Adia did not see Mama, nor Daddy. Adia ran to Sunny’s room and woke her up worried.

“Sunny, Sunny wake up! Mama and Daddy are gone!”

“Relax, they left for the airport to go to Dominican Republic for their anniversary. They’ll be back next week. Remember?”

“Oh yeah!” Adia said.

It then dawned on her. She could do anything for a week! That day, she rode on her scooter and tried to do tricks. After that, she watched TV in bed while eating ramen noodles. Next, she had her best friend Ada come over. Sunny played music on the TV and had a dance party in the living room.

“This is so much fun!” Adia and Ada told Sunny.

Gavi spinnned around so much that he Adia had to catch him! At night, Ada, Adia, Sunny, and Gavi watched a movie and popcorn. Sunny even made hamburgers!

Adia did that almost every day, and on the second last day, Mama and Daddy called.

“We miss you!” They said.”When we come back, we have a surprise for Ada and you.” They added.

She spent all of the day thinking what it could be. When it got dark, Adia gave up.

When her parents got home, Mama told Adia to go get Ada. She rushed to Ada’s house to get her best friend. Together they rushed back to Adia’s house. Mama gave us matching shoes!

“You two are starting school soon so you have matching shoes for fun!” Mama surprised them.

Adia was so happy and she gave Mama a big hug.
