When My Husband Battled Cancer, Grace Sustained Me to the Very End – Lindiwe Fortunate Matsebula

My name is Lindiwe Fortunate Matsebula, born and residing in the Kingdom of Eswatini. I am a mother, a teacher by profession, an upcoming author, and a born-again Christian. I was happily married for 22 years, and I am now a widow after my husband passed on due to cancer.

What I Was Writing About

I was writing about the grace that sustains a spouse caring for her husband battling with cancer. The lessons I learnt during this journey are valuable and worth sharing with those who are still on the journey. I wanted to inspire and uplift them so they can endure to the very end.

Overcoming Writer’s Block

I encountered writer’s block during the journey, and each time I would stop right there, rest, recharge, and ask God to help me flow. Sometimes I would stop for days and thereafter resume.

Receiving Feedback With an Open Heart

I welcomed all feedback with an open heart because I knew it was meant to help me produce the best content.

Balancing Writing With Other Responsibilities

No matter how tight my schedule was, I would just reserve one night where I would sit down and write. I chose the night because I would have handled all the other responsibilities I had at home and work.

How the Writing Class Helped Me

The writing class was so beneficial to me as it addressed all of the questions I had concerning writing a book. I learnt the art of storytelling, hooking the audience, and the show and not tell technique. I have no doubt I will write my next book effortlessly. I can recommend this writing class to someone else.

My Advice to Aspiring Authors

My advice to aspiring authors is that once the burden to put a certain message on paper arises, do not hesitate. Do it right away. Join a professional writing class and put down the message on paper. There is no better time to do it other than now.

A Closing Reflection

My writing journey has taught me that some stories are not only meant to be lived, but also written for the encouragement of others. Through CLC Kenya’s writing class, I found the guidance, structure, and confidence I needed to put my message on paper. I believe that every burden God places in the heart carries purpose, and when written with obedience, it can become a blessing to many.

CLC Kenya Celebrates 16 Graduating Writers from the Jade Writing Mentorship Class

CLC Kenya joyfully celebrated the virtual graduation of 16 writers from the Jade Writing Mentorship Class, marking another milestone in raising Christian authors across Africa.

Facilitated by Jackline Ingasian and hosted by Dr. Muthoni Omukhango, the graduation brought together writers from Kenya, South Sudan and Zimbabwe who have completed manuscripts across various genres, including memoirs, marriage guidance, Christian living, parenting, children’s devotionals, inner healing, financial stewardship, leadership, and discipleship.

#Graduation Flip Book

During the ceremony, each writer shared their writing journey, the inspiration behind their book, and the lessons learnt through the mentorship process. The event also highlighted CLC Kenya’s wider mission of advancing the gospel through Christian literature, a mission connected to CLC’s global work across 44 countries.

The CLC Kenya’s Writing Class has continued to grow since its beginning in 2020, raising writers who are not only completing manuscripts but also preparing to publish books that will serve families, churches, communities, and nations.

The 2026 graduating writers were encouraged to move forward into the publishing and marketing phase, with the hope of celebrating their published works in 2027 with an in-person graduation set for 28th November 2026 at Garden Estate.

As the session closed in prayer and thanksgiving, the charge was clear: graduation is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of greater stewardship. These writers carry stories, testimonies, teachings, and messages that can impact Africa and beyond.
